St. Helens & South Lancashire Rail & Bus Site:

Earlestown Area.

Earlestown is a rare example of a triangular station. It used to have 6 platforms, but the platforms on the west side of the triangle were closed in 1965, after withdrawal of the St. Helens to Warrington passenger service. One of these platforms was subsequently reinstated on introduction of a Liverpool to Warrington Bank Quay service.
