St. Helens & South Lancashire Rail & Bus Site.
Rainhill Area.
Rainhill is probably best known as the location of the "Rainhill Trials" in 1830, although the trials actually took place some distance to the east of the station. The present station was built in the 1860's. The first station, initially called Kendricks Cross, lay to the east of the Tasker Terrace footbridge.
