CLC 3:- St. Helens Central Branch, and Altcar & Hillhouse.
In addition to lines managed by the CLC, there were some associated lines connected run by individual constituents of the CLC. For example, the lines from Glazebrook West Junction to Wigan Central & St. Helens Central were purely GCR, then LNER. Hopefully, photos from Wigan Central will be added later - when I locate and scan them.

My only photos of trains on the CLC line to Southport Lord Street. 49434 outside Altcar & Hillhouse with a SLS railtour. |

Altcar and Hillhouse station, 6 June 1959. These early photos were taken with my father's pre-war Kodak bellows camera - the viewfinder gave a "reversed" image, and with a shutter speed of 1/50th sec., it was hardly ideal for moving trains !! |

44069 at Ashton in Makerfield on 29 September 1962. (Unfortunately a camera fault caused the loss of the right-hand side of this photo.) |

44501 on the railtour stopped just outside St. Helens Central, as the platform was unsuitable for this long train. |

St. Helens Central - the sole platform in 1963. Just visible on the right are houses in Central Street, since demolished and the site redeveloped. |

Having run round the train, 44501 waits to depart, next to St. Helens Central Signal Box. |

St. Helens Central - the turntable and part of the goods yard in 1963. Birchley Street is on the left, and has changed little since then. |
